Photos from OU’s loss in the Red River Showdown

It didn’t turn out the way anyone expected.

The Oklahoma Sooners were hoping to break their two-game losing streak where the defense was nicked, and the offense looked unfortunate at times.

With Dillon Gabriel out and against a Texas offense that looked incredibly strong, the Sooners couldn’t keep pace with the Longhorns in the 118th meeting of the Red River Showdown.

It was a stunning defeat at the hands of their great rival.

The Sooners offense really couldn’t do anything outside of using the wildcat in the first half. After halftime, Oklahoma couldn’t even start as the Texas Longhorns adapted to what the Sooners were trying to do.

Quinn Ewers and the Texas offense were in fine form, gaining nearly 600 total offensive yards. The offensive line kept the Sooners from putting pressure on Ewers, and they did a good job of opening up holes in the running game. The Sooners secondary couldn’t keep up with Texas receivers when Ewers had time to throw, and after the first quarter, that was about all she wrote.
